Handoff Week: Uniting Pet and Owner After Training

Handoff - Generally Week 4 of a Board and Train

At the heart of our board and train program is a connection—not just between us and your beloved pet but between you and your furry family member as well. When the training intensive has nurtured your dog's growth and confidence, it's time for one of the most magical moments: transferring the cues to you, the owner.

  1. Debrief/Meeting of the Minds: At the end of the training, we sit down with you to discuss your dog's progress. We'll give you insights into the skills they've mastered and the strategies we've used to help them thrive. We'll explore what they've learned, and more importantly, how they've flourished.

  2. Live Demonstrations/Witnessing the Transformation: Next, it's time to witness the incredible transformation. Our trainers will joyfully demonstrate the cues, commands, and newly learned behaviors that have become a part of your dog's repertoire. This is your chance to see firsthand the amazing strides your pet has made.

  3. Hands-On Guidance: Now, it's your turn. With empathy and patience, our trainers guide you in practicing these cues. We'll guide you as you practice cuing your dog, offering pointers and words of encouragement. Our aim is to ensure you feel confident in maintaining your dog's progress.

  4. A Blueprint for Success: We provide you with personalized materials that encapsulate the essence of the training. To help you remember, we'll hand over a written guide tailored to your dog's training. Think of it as a quick reference for the cues and behaviors they've learned. You'll also be able to refer back to videos we send you during the 30-day board and train.

  5. Consistency is Key: One of the most valuable pieces of advice we share is the importance of consistency. Regularly practicing the cues maintains the bond and understanding between you and your pet.

  6. Scheduled Follow-Ups: In most cases, people do not require additional help after the 30-day board and train. However, we're always eager to see how you both are doing. If you would like, you can schedule a check in to help you handle any difficulties that come up. These check-ins allow us to address any questions and to ensure the transition is smooth and successful.

  7. Open Communication Line: Our commitment doesn’t end after the handover. Anytime you have a question or need some advice, we're here for you.

  8. Celebrating Together: As you both adjust and thrive, we love hearing about your successes. Send us a pic or a vid! It’s a testament to the bond you share and the journey you’ve undertaken together.

Our goal in teaching you, the dog owner, the cues used by the trainer is to nurture a closer and more harmonious connection between you and your dog. We're here to support, to guide, and to celebrate the milestones you achieve together. Remember, this isn't just training; it's building a stronger bridge of understanding and trust with your beloved pet.
